Designer Anthony Louis White drew inspiration from the name Dolores and the shape of butterfly wings to create this one-of-a-kind credenza. The sleek and modern design incorporates clean lines and the elegance of butterfly legs, giving Dolores a distinctive and eye-catching appeal.
Unlike traditional box-shaped credenzas, Dolores takes on a trapezoid shape, forcing the observer's eyes towards its base. The butterfly legs, instead of being hidden and out of sight, are prominently displayed, giving the impression that they are carrying the piece. The use of heart and sap wood of maple adds to Dolores' uniqueness and creates a conversation piece.
Creating a trapezoidal piece of furniture that is both functional and visually appealing was a challenge. The base and the edge of the top meet at the same plane, eliminating any tripping hazards or wasted space. The butterfly legs provide a sturdy base for Dolores, ensuring that it is stable and wobble-free, unlike many mid-century modern furniture pieces.
Measuring 762mm tall, 1117.6mm wide, and 482.6mm deep, Dolores offers ample storage space with its drawers and cabinets. The drawers are 406.4mm wide, 330.2mm deep, and 114.3mm high, while the cabinets measure 355.6mm wide, 381mm deep, and 381mm tall.
Dolores can be used as a credenza, sideboard, record cabinet, or even a dresser, making it a versatile addition to any living space. Its sleek design and unique features make it a standout piece that will surely spark conversations.
The creation of Dolores began on December 20th in Mantua, NJ, and was completed on January 5th in the same location. The designer, Anthony Louis White, aimed to create a piece that was both original and functional, without being influenced by other designs. Minimal research was conducted during the design process, with further research done after completion to ensure its uniqueness.
Dolores has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2021. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. Dolores' integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and its ability to provide fulfillment and positive feelings contribute to a better world.
